The artist behind the cover

Cory Van Ieperen is the talent behind the cover artwork on Growing Up Lillooet.   In elementary school, his passion for comic books and his skill with a pencil caused him to be pulled from lessons – and asked to draw his entire Grade 2 class.

When Cory drew, he preferred to listened to music (the Beatles and KISS were favourites). At age fifteen, he took up the guitar.

Cory’s true calling continued with studies in Fine Arts at Kwantlen University College and on to graduating with a bachelor’s degree from Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design.

While his abilities stretch over many artistic disciplines, Cory’s joy of drawing manifests itself through caricatures and illustrations. Coryatures artwork can be seen in business publications, animations and book illustrations. Cory’s personality well suits his work as a caricaturist at conventions and celebratory events.  His guitar and vocal talents continue to add to the powerful rifts and grooves of the rock band Skookum.

Collaborating with Cory on the cover of Growing Up Lillooet was a truly positive experience made fun by his enthusiasm for what he does so well.
