At The Lillooet Library

Thanks go to Taylor for her time and enthusiasm in helping to spread the word, and Michelle for providing a pleasant corner of the library. It truly was a conversation, great people including Bernie and Lorna Fandrich from Kumsheen Rafting Resort in Lytton, Noel Baker and Linda Baker.

Find Growing Up Lillooet in the library’s memoir section (although it is suitable for the humour section as well) — unless it’s currently out on loan or on hold. Check with the front desk.

A warm welcome from Karen, George and Carol greeted us and all who entered KC Health & Gifts whether they were looking to have a conversation with the author, doing their regular shopping — or someone’s first time discovering the many health conscious foods and products or the expansive selection of unique gifts and goods not easily found elsewhere.

A special treat for Terry was the time he spent with his Grade VII teacher Aggie Malm. If you’re curious about Terry’s first impressions of the then Miss Dodds, you can find out on page 114 of Growing Up Lillooet. It was fun to see, at the age of 91, Aggie still has what it takes to cause this former 12-year-old’s heart to flutter.

Among the wide selection of books at KC Health and Gifts you will find Growing Up Lillooet.

At BUY-LOW Foods

As we experienced at earlier stops, the staff of BUY-LOW Foods impressed us with their welcoming hospitality. We thank them for the use of space out front in the warm fall sunshine to have more conversations with Lillooet’s good people. We met people who had read the book, who had gifted the book and others who didn’t know about the book. Some talked about growing up in Lillooet; others told about arriving in Lillooet and falling in love with the town, its people, and its surroundings and now can’t imagine ever leaving. One person had recently arrived and wanted to read the book to better understand how Lillooet “became what it is.”

BUY-LOW Foods was the first retail outlet for Growing Up Lillooet less than a year ago. With the festive season just around the corner the book is a unique and personal gift. (Retail: $18.95)
